What is Odoo? The modular ERP that grows at the pace of your business

Invoices in one program. Stock in an Excel sheet. Customers somewhere else. And at the end of the month, someone puts the pieces together by hand.

Odoo exists to put an end to that. It’s a modular ERP: a single system where sales, purchases, inventory, accounting, and projects share the same data. You start with what you need today and add modules when you need them.

On this page, we explain what Odoo is, what it includes, and in which cases it makes sense for your company.

ALL YOUR MANAGEMENT IN ONE SYSTEM

Odoo brings together all the areas of your company on a single platform: sales, purchasing, warehouse, accounting, projects, human resources, and web.

The key is in the word “modular.” Each area is an app. You activate only the ones you need, and they all work on the same database. What is recorded in one can be seen in the others.

WHAT MODULES DOES ODOO INCLUDE?

These are the areas most commonly implemented in medium-sized companies:

  • CRM and Sales: opportunities, quotes, and orders all in one flow.
  • Billing and Accounting: from invoice to accounting entry, without duplicating entries.
  • Purchasing and Inventory: supplier orders, stock by warehouse, and traceability.
  • Manufacturing: production orders, bill of materials, and planning.
  • Projects and Timesheets: tasks, time tracking, and project profitability.
  • Point of Sale: stores connected with stock and accounting.
  • Website and eCommerce: online store linked with inventory and billing.
  • Human Resources: employees, absences, and evaluations.

The exact availability of each module depends on your Odoo version and the edition you choose. In the initial analysis, we finalize this with you.

ODOO COMMUNITY AND ODOO ENTERPRISE: WHICH ONE SUITS YOU

Odoo is offered in two editions. They share the same technical core.

Odoo Community

  • Free and open source.
  • Covers basic management functions.
  • You or your partner take care of hosting and maintenance.

Odoo Enterprise

  • Paid, per user.
  • Adds advanced modules and features, like Studio to customize without coding and mobile apps.
  • Includes manufacturer support and hosting options.

A company with simple processes can do very well with Community. One with advanced accounting, manufacturing, or lots of customization usually needs Enterprise. And there are projects that combine Odoo with custom development.

WHAT PROBLEMS DOES ODOO SOLVE?

Odoo works best when there’s something specific to fix. These are the most common cases:

  • Disconnected tools. Sales, warehouse, and administration each work in their own system. Odoo gets them speaking the same language.
  • Manual tasks. Re-entering orders, reconciling stock, doing things by hand. Odoo automates repetitive steps.
  • Lack of visibility. It’s hard to know how much a project costs or how much stock is actually available. With all the data in one place, reports come out effortlessly.
  • A rigid ERP. The current one doesn’t adapt to the way you work. Odoo can be configured and expanded to fit you.

HOW WE IMPLEMENT ODOO IN GROUPMEE

An ERP doesn’t fail because of the software. It fails because of how it’s implemented. That’s why we work in phases with the same team from start to finish:

  1. Analysis of your processes. Before touching anything, we understand how you work today and where time is wasted.
  2. Design and configuration. We choose the modules and adapt them to your operations, not the other way around.
  3. Data migration. Customers, suppliers, products, and balances are checked before entering Odoo.
  4. Integration and custom development. We connect Odoo with the tools you already use and develop whatever is needed.
  5. Profile-based training. Each person learns what they need for their role, using real cases from your company.
  6. Support and maintenance. We stay with you after launch, which is when the real questions come up.

IS ODOO FOR YOUR COMPANY?

Odoo is a good fit if:

  • Your company has several departments that currently work with separate tools.
  • You need to cover purchasing, warehouse, or manufacturing processes, in addition to sales and accounting.
  • You want a system that you can expand and adapt over time.
  • You’re looking for an ERP with customization and tailor-made development options.

It might not be your best option if:

  • Your operations are very simple and you only need basic invoicing and accounting. In that case, a lighter ERP might be enough.
  • There’s no one in the company who can dedicate time to defining processes during the project.

If you’re not sure, we’ll tell you honestly in the first conversation. We work with several ERPs and recommend the one that fits.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ODOO

What is Odoo and what is it used for?

Odoo is a modular open-source ERP. It is used to manage sales, purchases, inventory, accounting, projects, and other areas of your company on a single platform, sharing the same data.

Is Odoo free?

The Community edition is free and open-source. The Enterprise edition is paid. In both cases, implementation, training, hosting, and support have their own costs, which depend on the scope of the project.

What is the difference between Odoo Community and Enterprise?

Community covers the basic functions and does not include official support. Enterprise adds modules and advanced features, mobile apps, Studio, manufacturer support, and hosting. We help you choose according to your processes.

How long does it take to implement Odoo?

It depends on the modules you activate, the data that needs to be migrated, and how complex your processes are. That’s why we start with a preliminary analysis and give you a phased plan.

Can Odoo be integrated with other tools?

Yes. Odoo connects with other systems through integrations and custom development. It’s one of the parts we work on the most in projects.

Do I need a partner to implement Odoo?

You can install it on your own, especially the Community edition. But setting it up properly requires knowing your processes and the product. A partner helps you avoid common adoption mistakes and supports you after the launch.

Do you offer training and support after implementation?

Yes. We include training tailored to each profile and remain available for support and maintenance once the system is up and running.
